Position Summary
The Math Teacher plans and delivers standards-based mathematics instruction that promotes problem-solving, mathematical reasoning, and conceptual understanding, while fostering student engagement and academic growth.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with appropriate mathematics endorsement.
- Knowledge of effective instructional strategies, assessment practices, and classroom management.
- Ability to analyze student data and adjust instruction to support student learning.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
- Regular and reliable attendance.
- Plan and deliver standards-based mathematics instruction aligned with district curriculum.
- Develop lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments to support student learning and engagement.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, including whole group, small group, and individualized instruction.
- Implement accommodations and instructional supports in accordance with student IEPs and 504 Plans.
- Monitor student progress through assessments and data analysis and adjust instructional practices accordingly.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and provide timely feedback to students and families.
- Establish and maintain effective classroom management procedures and a positive learning environment.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, and instructional leadership to support student achievement.
- Utilize instructional technology and district resources to enhance learning.
- Participate in department, school, district, and parent meetings and professional development activities.
- Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with students from diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the building administrator consistent with the effective operation of the school.
- Work is performed primarily in a classroom and school environment with regular interaction with students and staff.
- The position requires the ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the classroom and school building for extended periods while supervising and instructing students.
- The employee may occasionally bend, stoop, reach, and lift classroom materials or equipment up to approximately 20 pounds.
- The position requires the ability to operate instructional technology and visually and verbally monitor student behavior and classroom activities.
