Health Office AideQualifications: Minimum high school diploma; basic computer and clerical skills required; good rapport with young people; willing to become CPR and Epi-pen certifiedReports to: Building Principal and School NurseSupervises: N/AJob Goal: To assist in the operation of and ensure full efficiency in the health office.Performance Responsibilities:Overall responsibilitiesTelephone: Takes incoming calls and messages; calls parents when appropriate.Maintains bulletin board and health education resource information.Sets up and puts away testing equipment.Makes appointments for parents, teachers, or pupil conferences.Handles correspondence.Distributes flyers and notices.Reviews records; obtains information for nurse's use (i.e.: immunization data).Call school for transferring medical records.Maintains supply inventory; restocks when necessary.Transcription of information to health cards and health records, as instructed by School Nurse.Assist in sending IHCP to teachers and staff.Schedule students for screenings, under direction of School Nurse.Greets and admits students and visitors to health office. Informs students of procedure as they enter health office.Maintains lists of student re-screenings and referrals.Assist in documenting sports physicals in PowerSchool and on student records.Assist in documenting PE and sport excuse notes in PowerSchool and notify PE teacher and/or coach.Records student's arrival date, time, and complaint on daily health log and refers student to nurse for treatment.Collects information for accident reports.Assists students in preparation for being sent home; helps students collect their belongings from class/locker.Assists in maintaining accurate emergency contact information and entering information in our computer database.Maintains current CPR and Epi-pen certification.When assigned by administrative staff, assists in general school clerical duties.Works regularly scheduled hours on student half days.Shall perform all other duties as assigned by School Nurse or school administration and consistent with the duties of school aide.Environmental Requirements:The environmental demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential responsibilities and functions of the job and are not meant to be all inclusive.Exposure to a variety of childhood and adult diseases and illnesses.Work conditions are typical office environment temperatures of 65 to 80 degrees.Work space has typical conditioned airflow ventilation found in a business office environment.Exposure to a building in which a variety of chemical substances are used for cleaning, instruction, and/or operation of equipment.Function in a workplace that is usually moderately quiet but that can be noisy at times.Physical Demand Requirements:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential responsibilities and functions of the job and are not meant to be all inclusive.
