Responsibilities
- The Work Zone Traffic Control Engineer will be responsible for assisting with the management of projects and developing traffic management plans, signing plans, and pavement marking plans, specifications, special provisions, cost estimates and any required technical reports for all types of transportation construction projects.
- The individual will be responsible for mentoring and training younger staff; assisting with the traffic engineering services group business development; assisting with managing project tasks, budgets, scopes, schedules; and coordinating with clients and subconsultants.
- The individual will participate in the planning and design of transportation related projects and must be innovative and adaptive at identifying problems and finding solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program
- 11-15 years relevant experience with minimum 6 years delivering NCDOT Traffic Management, Signing, and Pavement Marking Plan (PMP) projects with examples of signed/sealed plans
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensed in NC
- Working knowledge of MUTCD, AASHTO, and NCDOT Standards, Specifications and Guidelines
- Proficient with WZTC traffic management, signing and PMP delineation plan development principles, practices, processes
- Experience with Microstation and OpenRoads Designer (ORD)
- Coordinate and collaborate with other transportation disciplines as required
- Ability to effectively communicate orally/written at all levels of the organization
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team with multiple office work share environment
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products
- Alternative Delivery (P3, Design-Build, CMGC) experience (desired)
- Experience working on VA, MD, WV, DE, PA, FL, and/or TX projects (desired)
- Experience using traffic analysis software such as Synchro/Sim Traffic, HCS and SIDRA (desired)

Proven ability to mentor staff and collaborate across transportation disciplines, ensuring compliance with NCDOT and AASHTO standards.
