The MicroStrategy Administrator is responsible for administering, optimizing, and maintaining MicroStrategy Cloud Environment (MCE) and on-premises BI ecosystems.
The role requires deep expertise in MicroStrategy platform management from both operating system and BI tool perspectives.
This position plays a key role in capacity planning, performance tuning, automation, security governance, and supporting high-availability and AI-enabled BI solutions across AWS and MCE environments.
The role collaborates closely with cross-functional teams and supports enterprise-scale analytics environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead installation, configuration, upgrade, and maintenance of MicroStrategy components (Intelligence Server, Web, Library, Collaboration Server, Workstation) across MCE and AWS.
- Perform capacity planning, system health checks, and performance tuning for scalable MicroStrategy infrastructure.
- Utilize System Manager and GenAI-based workflows for automation, monitoring, and incident response within MCE.
- Administer MicroStrategy roles, LDAP groups, RBAC configurations, and security profiles ensuring compliance with data governance and PII standards.
- Define and execute migration procedures for MicroStrategy application/configuration objects across Dev, QA, and Production.
- Manage patching, version upgrades, content migrations, and configuration tasks in alignment with MCE change control processes.
- Collaborate with cloud teams to configure and maintain AWS‑hosted analytics environments including EC2, RDS, S3, and VPC integrations.
- Support cloud database connectivity (Redshift, PostgreSQL, Snowflake) and optimize BI workloads.
- Troubleshoot BI environment issues including SQL failures, report performance, cube refresh problems, and governing settings.
- Provide technical support to developers and clients for reporting, dashboards, environments, and demo assistance.
- Configure MicroStrategy web interfaces, Tomcat/WebSphere instances, and user portals.
- Set up Operations Manager, Enterprise Manager, monitoring frameworks, and alerting for MicroStrategy KPIs using tools like DataDog and System Manager.
- Perform performance analysis and capacity sizing for scalable MCE and AWS deployments.
- Assist with security administration, including creation and modification of roles, groups, and user access portals.
- Handle deployment and testing of new MicroStrategy configuration/reporting packages.
- Support client onboarding including data source configuration, security role setup, and reporting interface creation.
- Build dynamic dashboards, visualizations, and auditing metrics as needed.
- Work effectively with global teams and external clients for troubleshooting, demonstrations, and knowledge transfer.
Required Qualifications
- 12+ years of overall experience in Business Intelligence and Data Analytics.
- 5+ years of hands‑on experience in MicroStrategy Administration, including MicroStrategy Cloud (MCE).
- 5+ years of strong proficiency in AWS (EC2, RDS, S3, VPC integrations).
- 5+ years of experience with Linux/UNIX environments and shell scripting.
- Deep expertise in SQL performance tuning, troubleshooting, and diagnostic analysis.
- Strong knowledge of governing settings, Intelligence Server configurations, and reporting optimization.
- Hands‑on experience with MicroStrategy Developer, Architect, Command Manager, Object Manager, System Manager, and License Manager.
- Experience in installation, configuration, deployment, and maintenance of MicroStrategy tools and clients.
- Strong SQL query writing and troubleshooting experience.
- Ability to support migrations across environments (Dev/QA/Prod) and administer security, LDAP groups, and user interfaces.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing MCE migrations and upgrades (11.x ? 11.5+).
- Exposure to AI-based automation tools such as aXet.maia or aXet.agentic for workflow orchestration.
- Strong understanding of cloud data governance, RBAC, and encryption standards.
- Knowledge of ServiceNow, JIRA, and Confluence for governance and project tracking.
- Experience with dynamic dashboards, visualizations, and metric auditing.
