This includes understanding the effects of manufacturing processing and heat treatment on properties.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesReview and execute approval of special manufacturing processes that have metallurgical requirementsMaterial related non-conformance assessments and dispositionsRoot cause analysisGas turbine material selection: Stainless steel, low carbon steel, nickel, and cobalt alloys for components throughout the gas turbine. This includes:Forgings, sheet metal, plate, barResponsible for material and process qualification specification creation and revisionsOther duties as assignedEducation & TrainingBachelor's Degree in Metallurgical or Materials Engineering, or related fieldSkills/Experience0-15+ years of experience with metal alloys used for gas turbines preferred0-15+ years Experience conducting evaluations of microstructure and defectsAvailable for travel to suppliers for qualification review and audits as neededProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite softwareMust be a detail-oriented, high energy, self-starter with the ability to drive the successful completion of projects within specified time framesProcess and team-oriented; able to work with a diverse workforceStrong written and oral communication skillsTrustworthy, quick learning, innovative and reliableMetallurgical lab evaluation technique experience preferredFamiliar with commercial material specifications – domestic and internationalAble to interpret engineering printsKnowledge of welding / brazing processes preferredKnowledge of protective coatings for gas turbine components preferredInvestment casting processEqual Opportunity Employer Veterans/Disabled
