We are committed to safety, operational excellence, quality, and continuous improvement while developing the next generation of technical and manufacturing leaders.ResponsibilitiesSupport daily metallurgical and process control activities within assigned production areasInvestigate and resolve quality and process issues using root cause analysis and statistical methodsMonitor and improve product characteristics including gauge control, surface quality, flatness, and mechanical propertiesAssist in developing and optimizing processes, procedures, and equipment performanceConduct trials, experiments, and data analysis to support product development, process improvements and cost reduction initiativesEnsure compliance with quality systems, procedures, and product/process controlsCollaborate with operators, maintenance, and support staff to implement sustainable solutionsParticipate in continuous improvement and Lean manufacturing initiativesPrepare technical reports, documentation, and presentationsProvide on-floor coaching and technical guidance to operations teamsSupport operations during off-shift hours or weekends as required in a 24/7 manufacturing environmentQualificationsRequiredBachelor's Degree in Metallurgy, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution1-2 year of related experience or relevant internship/co-op experiencePreferredQuality systems exposure (IATF 16949 or AS9100 preferred)Experience or internships in metals, aluminum, or heavy manufacturing environments preferredStrong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skillsAbility to work effectively on the production floor and collaborate with cross-functional teamsStrong communication and interpersonal skillsSteel Dynamics, Inc., and all affiliated entities are equal opportunity employers.
