Job TitleMerchant Services Program ManagerJob DescriptionThe University of Michigan's Merchant Services Program supports payment processing and PCI DSS compliance for approximately 400 merchants across the University. The Merchant Services Program Manager provides strategic and operational leadership for this university-wide program. You will lead staff, collaborate with departments and external partners, guide payment and compliance initiatives, and improve program services, operations, and long-term sustainability. This position manages staff performance and development for a team of three direct reports.What You'll DoProgram Leadership and OperationsEstablish program goals, priorities, performance measures, and operating plansLead projects and process improvements that strengthen efficiency, customer service, compliance, and financial sustainabilityMaintain program policies, procedures, guidance, and training materialsEvaluate emerging payment technologies and recommend secure, effective solutionsMerchant Services and PCI ComplianceAdvise departments on approved methods for accepting in-person and e-commerce paymentsLead PCI validation and help merchants complete required assessments accurately and on timeMonitor compliance, communicate requirements, and coordinate responses to operational or compliance risksSupport the implementation and ongoing operation of merchant accounts and payment solutionsRelationships and Team LeadershipBuild effective relationships with university departments, banking partners, payment processors, technology teams, and service providersTranslate technical and regulatory requirements into clear business guidanceSupervise, coach, and develop staff while establishing clear goals and expectationsFoster an inclusive, collaborative environment that encourages professional growth and independent thinkingRequired Qualifications*Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experienceA minimum of 5 years' experience in program management in merchant services, payment facilitation, or a related industryExperience leading programs, projects, staff, or cross-functional teamsStrong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skillsAbility to explain complex business, technical, or regulatory information to varied audiencesProficiency with common productivity and collaboration toolsStrong people management skills and emotional intelligence, combined with an eagerness to maintain strong day-to-day operations through active managementModes of WorkPositions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. The Treasurer's Office uses shared hoteling space within the Finance organization for in-person collaboration and meetings; dedicated individual workspaces are not provided. The University provides a desktop computer, monitors, and standard peripherals. The final equipment configuration will be tailored to the role and confirmed with the selected candidate during onboarding. Work arrangements may be adjusted based on business needs and University policies.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $95,000-$110,000.
