Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Part-Time Medical Writer to support Principal Investigators (PIs) with the development of clinical trial and grant-related materials. This individual will work closely with researchers to translate complex scientific and clinical concepts into clear, compelling, and technically accurate written content.
The ideal candidate is an exceptional scientific writer who can quickly understand new disease states, therapies, and research concepts. Candidates with experience in either academic research or the pharmaceutical industry will be considered.
Responsibilities
- Partner with Principal Investigators to develop and refine clinical trial and grant-related documents.
- Draft, edit, and review scientific and technical content for grant applications, research proposals, and clinical research materials.
- Conduct background research on disease states, drugs, therapies, and relevant scientific literature to support written materials.
- Translate complex clinical and scientific information into clear, concise, and persuasive content.
- Collaborate with investigators and subject matter experts to ensure scientific accuracy and alignment with research objectives.
- Assist with organizing and integrating research findings, supporting data, and scientific rationale into grant and clinical trial documentation.
- Partner with internal resources, including the statistics team, when specialized statistical analysis or interpretation is required.
- Review and edit existing materials for clarity, consistency, accuracy, and overall quality.
Skill Set Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in medical, scientific, or technical writing.
- Strong ability to write about complex scientific topics, including disease states, pharmaceuticals, clinical research, and therapeutic concepts.
- Previous experience supporting clinical trials, grant applications, research proposals, or similar scientific documentation.
- Exceptional written communication, editing, and research skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, Principal Investigators, researchers, and other subject matter experts.
- Ability to independently research unfamiliar scientific topics and translate findings into high-quality written content.
- Background within academic research, healthcare research, biotechnology, or the pharmaceutical industry is acceptable.
Nice to Haves
- Experience writing or contributing to research grants and clinical trial materials.
- Familiarity with clinical research terminology and processes.
- Experience working directly with Principal Investigators or physician researchers.
- Advanced degree in a scientific, medical, life sciences, or related field is preferred but not required based on relevant writing experience.
