Medical Technologist

Role: Performs quality diagnostic laboratory testing on various specimens, demonstrating essential clinical competencies.

Responsibilities

• Conducts and analyzes a range of laboratory tests accurately and efficiently.


• Prepares reagents, standards, and controls per procedures.


• Calibrates, standardizes, and maintains laboratory instruments.


• Researches and develops new testing procedures.


• Adheres to safety, hospital, department, and personnel policies.


• Utilizes computer systems for daily laboratory operations.


• Supports team efforts through training, collaboration, and quality improvement initiatives.


• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; Bachelor’s in Medical Technology or related field preferred.


• Eligible for certification (e.g., ASCP, AMT).


• Experience in blood banking, chemistry, hematology, microbiology, immunology, or urinalysis is preferred.


• Pathway options include various educational and certification pathways, including military training or foreign equivalency.
