Additional Details: Unit Details: Cares for orthopedic surgery, spine surgery, trauma, vascular surgery, and medical overflow patients. Typical skills/procedures include incision care, assessment, drains, chest tubes, wound care/wound vacs, mobility, patient education, trach care, NG tube insertion, and use of braces/traction. RN ratios are typically 1:4-6; surge times could be 1:7-8. Department support includes CNA assistance with phlebotomy, ADLs, Foley insertion/removal, and peripheral IV site removal; indirect charge nurse support as available; IV/VAT team; mentor support; RT and hospitalist 24/7; remote telemetry monitoring; patient safety attendants/virtual patient observation; BERT Behavioral Response Team; and Rapid Response/Code Team. Uses BD Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell, and Phillips and Massimo monitors. Unit is currently in the recertification process for Advanced Certification for Spine Surgery; travelers are expected to participate and will be supported by management throughout the contract. Shift & Scheduling: Every other weekend. Travelers will work 75% of holidays. No call. Schedule cycle: 6 weeks. Floating Requirements: Travel nurses will float first to other nursing units based on patient care needs and staffing demands and will take patients within scope of practice on any unit, including MedSurg assignments in ICU and MedSurg holds in ED. Required regional floating to Region 1 facilities as needed within scope of practice: Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, and Central Division (CMC Main Mercy LCH (peds only)).
