Role Description

This is a full‑time on‑site role for a Medical Office Specialist at Airport Clinic, located in Valdosta, GA.

The Role Overview and Key Responsibilities

The Medical Office Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of healthcare facilities. This position is responsible for managing patient records, scheduling appointments, processing insurance claims, handling referrals, posting payments, assisting in setting up patient payment plans, and providing exceptional customer service to patients and visitors. The specialist must demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and proficiency with medical office software systems. Able to collaborate with staff, providers, and management, as well as work independently.

In addition to handling administrative and patient‑facing duties, the Medical Office Specialist should demonstrate the ability to collaborate effectively with staff, providers, and management, while also being capable of working independently.

  • Greet and assist patients, answer phone calls, and respond to inquiries.
  • Schedule appointments and coordinate with healthcare providers.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and update electronic medical systems.
  • Verify insurance information and assist with billing claims.
  • Posting insurance payments
  • Handle confidential information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and correspondence.
  • Handle referrals process from sending out referrals, to making appointments, and receiving office notes from initial referral visit.

Qualifications typically include a high school diploma or equivalent, experience in a medical office setting, and familiarity with healthcare terminology. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment are essential for success in this role.
