Role Description


The Medical Laboratory Technologist role is a part-time, on-site position located in Harrisonburg, VA. The technologist performs routine and specialized laboratory tests in areas such as hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and urinalysis to support clinical decision-making. Daily responsibilities include preparing specimens, operating and maintaining laboratory instruments, following established protocols, and documenting results accurately in the laboratory information system. The role also involves monitoring quality control, maintaining a clean and safe work environment, and complying with regulatory and safety standards. The technologist collaborates with clinicians and other staff to clarify test orders, report critical results promptly, and support efficient patient care.


Qualifications



  • Demonstrated proficiency in Medical Technology and Laboratory Skills for performing and validating diagnostic tests.

  • Knowledge of Laboratory Medicine and Medicine to interpret results and understand clinical relevance.

  • Experience with Quality Control procedures, calibration, and adherence to laboratory standards and regulations.

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field.

  • Current certification or eligibility as a Medical Laboratory Technologist (e.g., ASCP or equivalent) preferred.

  • Strong attention to detail, accurate data entry skills, and commitment to patient safety and confidentiality.

  • Ability to follow standardized procedures, prioritize tasks, and work effectively in a clinical team environment.

  • Familiarity with laboratory information systems and basic computer skills; prior experience in a family practice or outpatient setting is an advantage.
