Make a Difference

As part of our Laboratory team, the Medical Lab Technologist will perform work related to the diagnosis and treatment of medical disorders, evaluating patient recovery through preparing specimens, running/performing tests, analyzing, reporting, and recording test results. Performs a variety of microscopic, bacteriologic and/or chemical diagnostic laboratory tests, conducts advanced procedures specific to a particular laboratory section (Hematology, Chemistry, Blood Bank, Microbiology). Your experience and the professional level of knowledge in Medical Technology that is needed to acquire expertise in the operation of equipment and the performance of clinical diagnostic testing procedures. With your dedication to care and expertise, you will become a valued member of the laboratory team.

Your exceptional qualifications

  • 4‑year/bachelor’s degree in chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution, with at least 16 semester hours in biology (including a semester in microbiology) and 16 semester hours in chemistry (including a semester in organic or biochemistry).
  • Accreditation: MLS or MT certification by a nationally accredited organization such as ASCP (required).

License/Certification Requirements

  • Certification as a Molecular Biology Technologist MB/ASCP or MDxT/AAB (required).
  • Preferred: MT‑ASCP, MT‑AAB, MT/AMT or equivalent in area of specialty, or MLS (ASCP).

Your exceptional skills

  • Laboratory testing: perform high‑complexity level testing in designated laboratory departments (Blood Bank, Hematology, Microbiology) in compliance with CLIA and CAP.
  • Knowledge of Hospital Order Entry system for physician requests.
  • Use of LIS for order entry, result entry, distribution, inquiry, correction, and updating.
  • Perform moderate to high‑complexity level testing in specialty sections under appropriate supervision.
  • Documentation: record all tests, enforce delta checks, panic values, repeat testing, comment on variant results, and notify appropriate personnel. Expedite STAT reporting.
  • Quality Control: complete QC functions, document, maintain corrective action logs, and inform personnel of potential problems or corrective action.
  • Experience: 3–6 months of experience in Medical Technology to acquire professional knowledge and equipment operation skills.
