Medical Laboratory TechnicianPosition Summary:Performs hematologic, chemical, microscopic, morphologic, immunologic and microbiologic testing in a prompt and reliable manner according to established hospital and departmental policies. May help to set up new methodologies, help develop procedural protocols, and train lab personnel in procedures and the use of instrumentation. Participates in PI activities and supports the hospital in meeting JCAHO and C.A.P. accreditation standards.
Helps other departments as assigned or needed on a PRN basis. Responsible to actively participate in quality assurance/performance improvement activities to ensure processes are meeting the intended goal/outcome, to identify opportunities for improvement, and to be accountable for the quality of care provided in their respective area.Position Requirements:Licensure/Certification/Registration: Licensed by the State of Tennessee as a Medical Laboratory Technician.Education: An Associates degree (or equivalent) in Biological Sciences or Medical Technology with successful completion of Licensure Examination to meet State, CLIA, and HCFA requirements.Experience: Experience gained in fulfilling the clinical requirements to qualify for the registry examination.Special qualifications: Good communication skills, detail oriented, computer skills helpful. Ability to work alone or with others as a team to ensure quality patient care.Degree of Supervision Required:Involves guidance and direction by Technologist, supervisor and/or department director.
