Medical Lab TechnicianThe Medical Lab Technician (MLT) performs diagnostic tests in the medical laboratory to provide data for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease, ensuring validity and accuracy of test results. Performs clinical laboratory testing of various complexities as allowed by regulatory standards.Primary responsibilities include performing clinical laboratory testing of various complexities, complying with all Health First, HF Laboratory policies and procedures, along with all pertinent regulatory standards, performing quality control on various laboratory tests ensuring its accuracy and validity, performing equipment maintenance on various lab analyzers, showing commitment to meet departmental goals & to continuously improve performance improvement metrics, demonstrating the appropriate skill set as determined by the Annual Competency Assessments, and communicating effectively within the laboratory, external clinical departments, other healthcare professionals, clients, and customers.Minimum qualifications include an Associates of Science degree in Medical Lab Science, any biological sciences or related field, as outlined by CLIA, Medical Technician licensure by the State of Florida, and proficiency in required computer applications. Preferred qualifications include two (2) years in clinical laboratory and MLS(ASCP) also formerly known as MT(ASCP), and/or MT(AAB), MT/MLS(AMT), Specialist Certification by ASCP (SBB, SC, SH, etc.).Physical requirements include majority of time involves sitting or standing; occasional walking, bending, and stooping, long periods of computer time or at workstation, light work that may include lifting or moving objects up to 20 pounds with or without assistance, communicating with others to exchange information, visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks, and may require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.At Health First, diversity and inclusion are essential for our continued growth and evolution.
