Medical Laboratory TechnologistThe Medical Laboratory Technologist is responsible for instrument maintenance, executing quality control procedures, specimen processing, test performance, and reporting test results as directed by the Senior Laboratory Manager and according to test standard operating procedures.Essential Functions:Following the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient resultsMaintaining records which demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested the same manner as patient specimensAdhering to the laboratory's quality control policies and documenting all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and instrument maintenanceFollowing the laboratory's policies, including taking and documenting corrective actions, whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performanceBeing able to identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or test result reporting and correcting the problem or notifying the appropriate supervisorDocumenting all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specificationsPerforming and documenting preventative maintenance on equipmentPrepares calibrators, reagents, and other materialsPerforming high complexity testingMonitoring, operating, and troubleshooting instrumentation to ensure proper functionalityIdentifying and replenishing testing bench supplies as necessaryMaintaining a safe work environment and wearing appropriate personal protective equipmentPerform duties of Clinical Laboratory AssistantGenerating and processing lab ordersSorts, labels, and record patient specimensResponsible for sample accessioningScanning and filing of laboratory documentsProvide pre-analytical and post-analytical laboratory supportAssist with Customer Experience Management communicationsRemain knowledgeable in applicable laboratory policies, procedures, and protocolsAdhere to regulatory guidelines and standardsGeneral support of daily operationsMaintains appropriate inventory of suppliesMaintains effective communication and working relationships with all laboratory personnel, other disciplines, and external customersOther duties, tasks, and responsibilities as assignedMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, chemistry, microbiology, or a closely related science field (required)2 years of clinical laboratory testing experience with good understanding of the workflow (required)Medical Technologist certification or other ASCP equivalent (preferred)Must qualify as Testing Personnel in accordance with CLIA Regulations Standard: Test Personnel QualificationsWorking knowledge of basic laboratory proceduresExperience handling biospecimensExperience working on Roche instrumentation (preferred)Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.Proficient with computers and familiarity with laboratory information systems.Strong interpersonal, management, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Calm and reasoned judgement.Strong sense of ethical and moral attitudes necessary for maintaining the confidentiality of patient information.Ability to work overtime hours, as required.Ability to read, understand, and follow SOPs, validation protocols, etc. and to complete documentation in a clear, accurate manner.Knowledge of the regulatory (CLIA/CAP) requirements of clinical laboratory testing.Methodical attention to detail.Knowledge of safety and infection control standards.Strong keyboard and data entry skills; ideally 65-70 words per minuteAbility to work in a team environmentAbility to work every SaturdayAbility to adapt to a constantly growing and changing environmentSupervisory Responsibilities:No direct supervisory responsibilities.Tuesday-Saturday 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM. 40 hours per week.
