We are proud to have become a shining example of what's possible when the brightest professionals dedicate themselves to making a difference in the healthcare industry, and in people's lives.Work Shift: Night (United States of America)Job Summary:This role, under the general supervision of the Supervisor, Manager or Laboratory Director, permits the Medical Laboratory Technician to perform tests requiring limited skill and responsibility and exercise independent judgment minimally, as competency is demonstrated.Accuracy: Maintains acceptable accuracy in-patient, quality assurance, proficiency and competency testing.Critical Thinking: Uses clinical/theoretical knowledge to analyze, investigate, interpret and report lab data.Job Knowledge: Maintains current personal training, education and practice of policies and procedures.Productivity: Practices organizational skills for efficient of time, materials, cost and availability of lab data.Communication: Practices information monitoring, investigation, resolution and hand-off to team members.Performs other duties as assigned.Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:Maintains acceptable accuracy in patient, quality assurance, proficiency and competency testing.Meets department standard for correct patient or specimen identificationMeets department standard for error rate in testing or reporting patient or QC resultsConsistently documents investigation and correct interpretation of QA failures or trendsEarns acceptable scores in proficiency testing and personnel competency testingMaintains instrumentation for testingUses clinical/theoretical knowledge to analyze, investigate, interpret and report lab dataReports lab data accurately and in a timely mannerRecognizes the relationship between lab data and clinical findings or expectationInitiates investigation of problems and works to resolutionInterprets information from multiple sourcesPractices information monitoring, investigation, resolution and hand-off to team members.Complies with Pending Log procedure for tracking laboratory test statusDocuments in the LIS all elements of the Notification Value Call procedureHands-off information to others according to the department procedure and chain of commandAdheres to WellStar's Standards of Behavior in a consistent fashionTakes personal responsibility for correction action on constructive criticism.Practices organizational skills for efficiency of time, materials, cost and completing testing.Meets deadlines for turn-around times required by the departmentMeets department-defined standards for organizational skillsMeets department productivity standardsPractices cost-efficient work processes that maintain high quality laboratory data.Maintains current personal training, education and practice of policies and proceduresMaintains current knowledge and practice of WellStar Policies and procedures, including LIS.Demonstrates adequate knowledge of laboratory regulatory compliancePractices all WellStar and Laboratory Safety StandardsParticipates in meetings, committees, task forces and project teamsCompletes monthly, quarterly, or yearly educational requirements.Required Minimum Education:Associates Medical Technology or Other / Certificate Medical TechnologyRequired Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):MLT(AAB) - Medical Laboratory Technician or MLT(AMT) - Medical Laboratory Technician or MLT(ASCP) - Medical Laboratory TechnicianAdditional License(s) and Certification(s):For persons who possess the technician qualifications and have recently moved into the state or completed the academic and/or training requirements, they may be temporarily classified once as technicians within 18 months.Required Minimum Experience:Minimum 1 year experience laboratory experience Preferred.Join us and discover the support to do more meaningful work—and enjoy a more rewarding life.
