MA Job OpportunityOur Laboratory is seeking full-time individuals to fill laboratory positions to perform a variety of tests including SARS-COV-2. Principal duties as a medical lab scientist include performing a variety of standardized clinical laboratory tests within a specialized area or across specialty lines using manual or automated methodology, under the supervision of a physician or a supervising clinical laboratory scientist in a general or a specialized medical laboratory on any shift.Additional responsibilities include calibrating laboratory instruments following prescribed methods and performing other quality control and improvement procedures to assure the operational accuracy of equipment and test reproducibility; performing manufacturer recommended period routine maintenance on such equipment. Oversees the work of laboratory assistants assigned to assist with testing. Performs specific biochemical tests on body specimens such as whole blood, blood plasma, serum, urine, similar products to determine the presence and quantity of metabolic and endocrine substances, viruses, bacteria, and drug substances. Molecular procedures to identify enteric pathogens, parasites, pathogenic bacteria, fungi, and other microorganisms in blood, sputum, urine, respiratory samples and similar substances using standardized laboratory procedures.
Performs immuno serological test methods such as flocculation, agglutination, complement filtration, direct and indirect fluorescence, enzyme immunoassays, molecular pathology, and serologic tests to determine the efficacy of test performed and to identify the presence and measure the quantities of antibodies associated with various medical conditions. Utilizes computer programs that operate in conjunction with laboratory equipment; enters test results, quality control and improvement data. Provides instructions to medical personnel on specimen collection requirements such as the type of container and appropriate volume, type of preservative and other handling instructions. Provides bench-level instruction on the detailed aspects of assignment to licensed trainees and new laboratory scientists and medical personnel in training.Minimum requirements include a valid and current clinical laboratory scientist license issued by the state of California Department of Public Health. Licenses and certificates required include a clinical laboratory scientist license issued by the state of California Department of Public Health.
Applicants must attach a valid legible photocopy of their license to practice as a clinical laboratory scientist at the time of filing or email to the analyst within 15 calendar days of filing online. The required license must be current and unrestricted; a provisional, probationary or restricted license will not be accepted.Desirable qualifications include a certificate of completion from the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science (NAACLS). Work experience as a licensed clinical laboratory scientist in various specialized laboratory sections in an approved laboratory. A certificate from a post-secondary academic institution/medical center or laboratory accredited and given authority to provide clinical laboratory science education by NAACLS and is recognized by the U.S Department of Education.The ideal candidate must have laboratory experience, be able to work collaboratively on a team, have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation, and have a laboratory certification/license. Minimum qualifications include the ability to work 40 hours per week consistently, be reliable and dependable, display compassionate, ethical, and professional demeanor, ability to understand and follow written guidelines, knowledge of equipment used such as iMac apps for portal access, Microsoft programs, ability to meet all safety and regulatory requirements, and must be able to pass a background check.
Job types include full-time, part-time – lead and mobile roles also available. Schedule varies depending on the event scheduling (Monday - Sunday availability). Physical requirements include standing for long periods of time, bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or lifting moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) in a recurring manner or for long periods of time.
