Medical Laboratory ScientistMedical Laboratory Scientist are responsible for testing patient specimens, ensuring accuracy of test, and communicating results to providers. Reports to: Supervisor, Medical Laboratory.Job Specific Responsibilities:Prepare specimens for testingTest patient specimens, establishing and ensuring acceptable levels of QC are maintainedResponsible for ensuring requirements of the CAP, AABB, DNV, and FDA (as applicable to section/shift) are followed and in complianceEnsure equipment is operational by performing equipment maintenance, calibrating, and troubleshootingAll other duties assigned related to the medical laboratoryEducation and Experience:Bachelor's degree RequiredLicensures/Certifications/Registrations: N/ASkills and Abilities:Understands and can articulate correct procedures to accurately identify patients, label specimens, and verify there is adequate sampling for the testing orderedProficient use of computer peripheralsClear communicator; Speak, read, and write English fluentlyInteraction with Other Departments and Other Relationships:This position has much interaction with nursing staff and other hospital departmentsPhysical Capabilities:Medical Laboratory Scientist I can expect to stand for long periods of time and walk frequently. This position also requires frequent stooping, sitting, reaching, bending and kneeling.

The incumbent may also be required to carry items up to 50 pounds.
