Job Summary

Lab with floor to ceiling windows! Performs routine and complex clinical pathology testing and instrument management of laboratory services. Responsible for accurately recording results and ensuring timely delivery. Holds authority and accountability for accurate performance of laboratory test methodologies used for diagnosis, treatment, and patient response evaluation. Applies clinical knowledge to achieve accurate clinical test results that lead to quality patient care outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides patient-focused care in a clinical setting through accurate performance of routine and complex tests across pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic stages.
  • Performs qualitative and quantitative analytical procedures, including reagent preparation and quality control, according to required protocols, maintaining precision, accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of techniques, principles, and instruments and their interrelationships, as well as physiological conditions affecting test results.
  • Additional duties may be assigned.

Technical Capabilities (Novice)

  • Data Analysis – fundamental proficiency to perform moderate data analysis tasks, navigate technology environments, validate and extract data, run queries, and provide reports.
  • Quality Assurance – analyze work processes, propose improvements, and contribute to establishing and monitoring quality standards.
  • Equipment Maintenance – maintain equipment, products, or systems, ensuring sufficient parts inventory.
  • Diagnostic Testing – proficiency in delivering diagnostic test results.
  • Mentoring & Coaching – train and mentor others, provide constructive feedback, remove obstacles, and share experiences.

Core Accountabilities

  • Executes responsibilities with awareness of their impact on related areas, providing informal guidance and support.
  • Analyzes moderately complex problems using technical experience and judgment.
  • Applies knowledge to support team interaction and collaboration.

Position Qualifications

  • Certifications: LIC-Medical Laboratory Act – Tennessee; Medical Laboratory Scientist – American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP); Medical Technologist – American Medical Technologists (AMT).
  • Experience: Relevant work experience, less than 1 year.
  • Education: Bachelor's (Required).
