Medical Dosimetrist

Position Details

Medical Dosimetrist – Full Time – NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County – Salary: $140,000 per year.

Responsibilities

• Communicate the patient's treatment plan to the radiation therapists by providing field arrangements, beam modification devices, and any concerns that may arise during the treatment planning phase.
• Contribute to quality assurance and safety by providing technical and physics support, including radiation protection, qualitative machine calibrations, and quality assurance of the radiation oncology equipment.
• Perform calculations for accurate delivery of the radiation oncologist's prescribed dose, document pertinent information in the patient record, and verify the mathematical accuracy of all calculations.
• Prepare computerized plans for radiation therapy patients (EBRT and brachytherapy).
• Maintain clinical competence by attending continuing education programs.
• Oversee the day‑to‑day operations of the dosimetry team and manage workload appropriately.
• Triage questions from radiation therapists about daily treatment set‑ups.
• Design, generate and measure radiation dose distributions and dose calculations while providing oversight to high‑level treatment procedures in both external beam radiation therapy and brachytherapy.

Qualifications

• Board Certified or eligible in Medical Dosimetry.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience or equivalent.
• Schedule: Daytime.
