What You’ll Do

As the Unit Medical Director, you’ll serve as the clinical leader and Unit Health Authority , overseeing healthcare delivery for an inmate population while ensuring care is timely, accessible, and compliant with all regulatory standards.

You will:

• Provide advanced diagnostic and treatment services to patients
• Lead and supervise a multidisciplinary team of physicians, PAs, and NPs
• Ensure care aligns with TTUHSC , TDCJ, and NCCHC standards
• Coordinate and optimize healthcare delivery across the facility
• Exercise independent clinical judgment with support from the Regional Medical Director
• Champion quality improvement, patient safety, and operational excellence

Leadership & Impact

• Directly supervise, mentor, and develop clinical staff
• Drive hiring, training, performance management, and team development
• Collaborate with TTUHSC faculty and interdisciplinary teams
• Address complex clinical and operational challenges in a dynamic environment

Clinical Responsibilities

• Conduct patient evaluations, sick call, and clinic visits
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests
• Develop treatment plans and coordinate specialty referrals
• Maintain accurate and compliant medical documentation
• Provide oversight and delegation to advanced practice providers
• Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours care
