WakeMed has three acute care hospitals and a physical rehabilitation hospital for a total of 970 beds. We also have three healthplexes with stand-alone, 24/7 emergency departments and a variety of outpatient services throughout the region. Our physician practices are home to more than 500 physicians representing nearly every specialty.

Position Summary

WakeMed is seeking a Medical Director of Trauma Services to provide clinical, operational, research and strategic leadership for the trauma program at WakeMed, Level I Trauma Center (Raleigh). Our team currently consists of 26 surgeons, residents and Advanced Practice Providers (APPs). Our surgeons provide trauma/emergency general surgery. This role is responsible for ensuring high-quality, evidence-based care for injured patients across the continuum—from pre-hospital through rehabilitation—while maintaining compliance with ACS and state trauma designation standards and advancing performance, research, and prevention initiatives. Position will be structured as .50 FTE administrative and .50 FTE clinical within the general surgery/trauma team.

Licensed Medical Physician and Board Certification in Area of Practice Required.

Experience

Fellowship/Internship/Residency - Related Area Required. Previous trauma related leadership experience required, preferably in a community-based hospital setting.
