Medical Director

Onsite Full Time Physicians & Doctors

An exciting opportunity has opened for a Medical Director to lead the relaunch of a well-established small animal hospital in Poway, CA. This is a rare chance to take the clinical lead in rebuilding a previously successful 5-DVM practice, shaping everything from medical standards to team culture as the hospital reopens its doors.

Acquired during COVID and closed for the past two years, the hospital is now entering a new phase, with investment behind it and a clear vision for growth. As Medical Director, you’ll play a central role in bringing the clinic back to life. You’ll have significant influence over equipment selection (with new investment into diagnostics, surgical tools, and in-house lab capabilities), clinical protocols, and hiring decisions as a brand-new team is built around you, including a Hospital Manager, RVT, Veterinary Assistants, and CSR.

This is a small animal GP hospital, historically serving dogs and cats, with a focus on delivering high-quality, relationship-driven care. You’ll balance hands-on clinical work with leadership responsibilities, guiding standards of care, mentoring new team members, and helping establish a strong reputation in a competitive market. The schedule is designed to support work-life balance, with weekday-only hours and flexibility in shift structure.

With 30-minute appointments, the ability to incorporate drop-offs and work-in cases, and the autonomy to shape workflows, this role offers the perfect blend of leadership, clinical freedom, and long-term growth potential.
