Medical Director of Stroke

The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, in affiliation with NYC H+H|Queens, is seeking a full-time Medical Director for its Advanced Primary Stroke Program. This leadership role requires expertise in both General Neurology and Stroke, as the hospital operates as an Advanced Primary Stroke Center. The successful candidate will be instrumental in leading stroke program initiatives, maintaining certification, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based stroke care to culturally diverse communities in Queens, New York.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership in ongoing initiatives of the Stroke Program
• Maintain Stroke Center Certification status
• Ensure quality, evidence-based stroke care
• Coordinate and provide direction to the Advanced Primary Stroke Center
• Oversee systems and programs involved in the implementation and ongoing improvement of evidenced-based stroke care
• Provide leadership and drive program development to maintain TJC Advanced Primary Stroke Center accreditation
• Coordinate and provide direction to the facility's stroke care team, including communication with medical staff, quality, and nursing
• Act as a resource with regulatory agencies, make recommendations for compliance, and maintain mandatory documentation
• Provide direct in-patient consultation services and outpatient care
• Teach and supervise advanced practice providers and students, residents, and medical students
• Advocate for patients and family members by designing policies and services that promote patient rights and optimal environments of care
• Assist in coordination of the tele-stroke program and transfers to other facilities

Compensation

• Compensation range from $290,000 to $312,000 (not including bonuses / incentive compensation or benefits)

Requirements

• Medical degree from an accredited university
• A valid New York State License, DEA, and Medicaid number
• Board certified in General Neurology
• Completed residency in an ACGME accredited Neurology residency program
• Completion of a fellowship in vascular neurology (preferred)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• A strong work ethic and desire to participate in a team-oriented, patient-centered health system
• Ability to build and maintain supportive relationships with diverse groups including nursing and physician colleagues, hospital administration, other departments, and outside agencies
