Medical Director Hospitalist - Pediatric

**Job Description:**

The role of Medical Director for the pediatric hospitalist practice encompasses the following responsibilities:

Responsibilities

• Provide oversight for high‑risk deliveries.
• Conduct emergency room consultations involving pediatric patients.
• Manage admissions of low‑acuity pediatric cases.
• Deliver comprehensive well‑newborn care within the hospital setting.
• Collaborate with the affiliated Level‑III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose for newborns requiring intensive care, including coordination of transport when necessary.
• Maintain a full‑time schedule consisting of twelve 24‑hour shifts per month, with on‑call responsibilities from home.
• Support a hospital facility that manages approximately 500 deliveries annually.
• Engage within a collaborative work environment, welcoming applications from commuting candidates.
• This is a permanent, full‑time position that necessitates residence within the immediate local area. Relocation may be required.

Qualifications

• Active Board Certification in Pediatrics (BC Pediatrician) is required; no exemptions will be made.
• A valid medical license for California or the willingness to obtain one is required.
• Current inpatient hospital experience is mandatory; candidates should provide the number of years of experience in the additional notes section.
• A clean malpractice and license history is highly preferred.
