As a Medical Assistant, you will travel daily to our Hampton and Harbour View locations to support the physician during patient visits. Occasional local travel to additional sites within your assigned geographic region may also be required.Reports To: Practice Operations ManagerPosition SummaryWe are looking for a Medical Assistant to work alongside the physician and assist with patient care. This includes taking basic vital signs, preparing the room, verifying patient information, assisting with in-office procedures, and scheduling the patient's next appointment. The Medical Assistant will also help manage the patient's schedule and assist with office duties.Duties And ResponsibilitiesInterview patients to gather medical history and update medical recordsGather basic vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, height, weight, and pulsePrepare treatment rooms and patients for examSterilize instruments and set up in-office procedure traysManage medical supplies and materials and work with their operational leader to order necessary inventoryTake x-raysMedical Assistants will be cross trained to be able to cover front desk activities when neededOther duties are to support the physician and team with patient care activities.RequirementsQualifications/Education/Critical SkillsMedical Assistant certification with 2 years in a healthcare position preferred.High school diploma or GED required, higher or continuing education a plus.Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervisionStrong computer skills and use of Microsoft OfficeKnowledge of basic medical procedures such as dressing a woundStrong communication skills and ability to actively listenStrong organizational and clerical skills to maintain patient files and perform office dutiesCustomer services skillsKnowledge of safety and sanitation proceduresScheduling: A typical schedule for this Medical Assistant is Monday to FridayTravel: Local travel may be required to locations within your assigned geographic region. This role will be assigned to cover a geographic area; however, you may be required to occasionally travel outside of your assigned regional area to support the other regional coverage needs of the organization.
