Job Title: Medical AssistantReports To: Clinic ManagerLocation: Grants Pass, Oregon - 1701 Hawthrone Ave. Grants Pass, OR, 97527Job Type: Full TimeFLSA Status: Non-ExemptPay Range: $17.33-$23.00/hourSchedule: Four 10-hour shifts per week; schedule may vary based on clinic needs.Job Summary:The Medical Assistant (MA) helps ensure quality care and efficient patient flow through the clinic by processing patients, placing them in examination rooms, and preparing them for examination by medical providers. Assists Providers during examinations and procedures. Performs procedures and administers medications and immunizations in accordance with clinic protocols and Federal and State guidelines. Maintains clinical areas in a state of readiness for patient care. Focuses on contributing to the medical team and delivering high-quality patient care. MA may be assigned to cover endocrinology, behavioral health, School Based Health Centers (SBHC), or have general clinic duties.Essential Functions:Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.Follows clinical protocols and accurately completes documentation, medications, testing, and procedures.Prepares patients for appointments by obtaining vital signs, updating medical histories, completing screenings, and documenting in the EHR.Administers vaccines and injections and assists providers with examinations and procedures.Reviews charts, health maintenance needs, labs, and records to support pre-visit planning and patient care.Prepares examination rooms, maintains clinical equipment and supplies, and ensures cleanliness and safety standards are met.Processes lab orders, refills, clinical tasks, and patient follow-up per provider protocol.Recognizes urgent or emergency patient needs and promptly notifies the appropriate medical staff.Provides patients with instructions, health education, and preventive care information as directed.Supports patient communication, correspondence, and follow-up activities.Maintains accurate records, inventory, and laboratory supplies.Perform other duties as assigned.Working Conditions:Work Environment: 100% clinic-based position with continuous interaction with patients. May involve exposure to airborne pathogens and other routine healthcare-related hazards. Requires adherence to applicable safety procedures, infection-control practices, and clinic policies.Travel Requirements: Primarily clinic-based; occasional local travel may be required as needed. MAs may be asked to help cover at another clinic.Physical Demands: Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, reach, push, carry, and lift as required to perform job duties. Ability to maintain physical mobility throughout the clinic. Vision and hearing must be within functional range, with corrective devices as needed.QualificationsRequired Education and ExperienceEducation: High School Diploma or equivalent GED.Experience: Completion of an accredited phlebotomy program.Knowledge & SkillsProof of BLS certification or ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire.Can demonstrate knowledge of medical terminology, drug dosage information, and medical abbreviations.Familiarity with computerized medical management programs preferred.Completion of a Medical Assistant's training program or a minimum of two (2) years' experience as a medical assistant in a medical office or clinic preferred.Strong attention to detail and accuracy.Ability to analyze information and follow established procedures.Strong procedural and organizational skills.Commitment to quality, safety, and patient care.Computer, printer, calculator, fax machine, copier, multi-line phone system, and other standard office equipment.Standard medical laboratory equipment and supplies.Comprehensive Benefits PackageAt Siskiyou Community Health Center, we’re committed to supporting the health, financial well-being, and work-life balance of our employees.
