Position Overview
The Media Services Manager (Manager) leads a team of employees and student workers responsible for the support, design, and operation of classroom, instructional, and event-based audiovisual technologies across the campus. The position oversees the universitywide classroom and instructional computer laboratory technology program and is responsible for planning, designing, and implementing standardized classroom and instructional technology solutions that support teaching, learning, and campus operations.
The Manager oversees the installation, configuration, maintenance, and support of instructional technology systems; provides media and instructional technology support for special events, meetings, presentations, and athletic events; supports lecture capture and instructional media platforms; and ensures faculty, staff, and students are trained in the effective use of supported technologies.
This position reports to the Director of Client Technology Services (CTS) and serves as a key member of the Information Technology Services (ITS) technical support team. This is a midlevel position that works under the guidance of the Director to deliver reliable, accessible, and consistent instructional technology services to the campus community.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
Information Technology Services (ITS) strengthens and supports the university's mission of teaching, research, and scholarly application of knowledge by providing the information technology infrastructure, software, hardware, and support to achieve the university's strategic goals. ITS is comprised of nine departments which work with the university community to provide the information technology support and services required to realize operational excellence, integrate advanced technology, and create efficient and effective technology solutions.
Minimum Requirements
Master's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field with two years' experience directly related to the duties of the position, or Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field with four years' experience directly related to the duties of the position.
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
- Experience supporting and managing enterprise classroom and instructional AV systems, including projection, interactive displays, audio systems, and integrated room controls.
- Experience with Crestron or comparable AV control and room management platforms in standardized instructional environments.
- Experience supporting hybrid learning and collaboration technologies, including Microsoft Teams, Zoom, lecture capture systems, and live streaming platforms.
- Experience working with AV vendors and integrators, including system deployment, upgrades, and ongoing support coordination.
- Ability to train faculty, staff, and student employees in the effective use of classroom and instructional technologies.
- Experience planning and coordinating major technology refreshes or upgrades, including collaboration with academic and campus partners.
- Knowledge of digital signage systems and instructional technology accessibility (ADA) standards.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical staff, provide high quality customer service, and work effectively in a campus environment.
