Are you a communications professional with strong media relations skills and a passion for public affairs? A political consulting firm in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area is seeking a Media Associate to build relationships with journalists, identify timely media opportunities, and support strategic communications efforts across multiple clients and issue areas.
Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain relationships with reporters, producers, and other media professionals.
- Monitor breaking news and identify timely opportunities for media engagement.
- Develop messaging, press releases, statements, and other public-facing communications materials.
- Pitch reporters and support strategic media outreach across multiple projects.
- Manage communications deliverables across multiple clients and issue areas.
- Coordinate competing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements:
- Strong writing, verbal communication, and media relations skills.
- Experience pitching reporters and developing professional relationships with journalists and media outlets.
- Strong understanding of current events, news cycles, and the media landscape.
- Excellent project management, organizational, and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Experience in policy, advocacy, nonprofit, communications, or related fields preferred.
Compensation: $50,000–$90,000 annually DOE, plus benefits.
