Med/Surg Manager

JOB TITLE: Medical/Surgical Nurse ManagerDEPARTMENT: Medical/SurgicalREPORTS TO: Chief Nursing OfficerSUPERVISES: Medical/Surgical StaffPOSITION SUMMARY:Primary responsibilities include providing administrative oversight and direction for the Medical/ Surgical Department. This manager will provide accountability for planning, directing, leading and evaluating nursing care within this department. Responsibilities include participation with the Swing Bed Program; this is a fundamental aspect of this position and key to the success of this organization’s swing program development, implementation and evaluation.POSITION RESPONSIBILITIESESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Primary responsibilities include providing administrative oversight and direction for the Medical/ Surgical Department. Manager will create schedule, provide coverage for vacations, illnesses, etc. Manager may be required to fill shifts on occasion.POSITION QUALIFICATIONSMINIMUM EDUCATIONMust be a Registered NurseTwo to three years of management and/or supervisory experience preferredBasic Life Support (BLS) certificationAdvanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certificationPediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certificationMedical/Surgical experience in a similar size hospital preferredKnowledge of Swing Bed requirements/regulations preferred
