Mechanical Project EngineerIMEG is hiring a Mechanical Project Engineer in Pensacola, FL, to lead mechanical design efforts as a project manager or lead engineer for low to moderate complexity projects while supporting the delivery of larger, high-complexity work with senior staff. In this role, you'll provide engineering solutions and advice to clients, with responsibilities spanning analysis, design, and implementation oversight of mechanical systems for the vertical building industry. You'll also work within the project's monetary budget while training, mentoring, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations.Principal ResponsibilitiesLead design efforts for the analysis of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systemsDevelop detailed designs, specifications, and calculations using engineering software and tools per code requirements and IMEG standardsPartner with clients to gather requirements, communicate technical information, and build and maintain strong working relationshipsSupport consulting project execution as part of a project team, including planning, budgeting, and scheduling to meet deadlines and objectivesDocument design decisions and client instructions while monitoring project design progress (percent complete and fee expended)Analyze engineering problems and develop practical, efficient solutions in collaboration with senior engineers and consultantsPerform in-process design reviews and implement IMEG quality control processes to meet IMEG, industry, and client requirementsStay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices; contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEGPrioritize safety by identifying and mitigating potential risks associated with mechanical systemsCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams (engineers, architects, and project managers) to deliver integrated solutions aligned to project goalsIdentify potential project problems and seek advice from the Project ManagerOversee projects through bidding and construction administration phaseRequired Qualifications and SkillsBachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent requiredProfessional Engineer (PE) License required2 years of experience minimum required, 4 preferred, in the building design consulting industry (years of experience may vary based on state license qualifications)Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specificationsStrong technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles in thermodynamics, psychrometrics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics relating to mechanical design in HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systemsAbility to train and mentor less experienced staffProficiency of industry standard engineering software and tools including HVAC load calculation softwareExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work collaboratively in a team environmentAttention to detail and problem-solving skillsEagerness to adapt to new challengesProficiency in the use of Building Information Modeling (BIM) softwareProficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and OutlookAbility to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groupsAbility to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight staysThis position is not eligible for sponsorship.IMEG puts people first—with a strong focus on career growth, work-life balance, and meaningful impact.
