As a Maintenance Technician - Mechanical, you will perform all operations pertaining to the installation, repair and maintenance of a wide variety of mechanical equipment and processes. You will install, repair and maintain mechanical drives, bearings, clutches, hydraulics systems, pneumatic systems, perform welding, etc. Work involves a thorough knowledge of the mechanical trade, and an understanding of the plant operating principles is required to ensure that equipment functions properly and safely.Primary Responsibilities:Work consists of the installation, repair, removal, and rebuilding of all plant machinery, equipment, material handling equipment, company vehicles and the repairs of buildings and groundsBe able to work with minimal supervisionRead, interpret and work from blueprints, layouts, hydraulic and pneumatic diagrams, along with making sketches and rough blueprints as requiredSkillfully set up and operate a variety of machine tools used in the performance of their duties and be able to repair parts as requiredLayout, set up, and perform all acetylene or electric welding and cutting operations as requiredInstall, repair, and maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systemsPerform predictive/preventative maintenance operations as required, including adding oil or grease as necessarySkillfully use all machinists' tools and precision measuring instruments as required and sharpen tools as neededFabricate and modify machines/equipment as requiredContainment and cleanup of hazardous materials including cleaning up job site and dispose of unwanted materials and used partsPerform plumbing and boiler repairs as neededAdapt to new methods and procedures as requiredAssist other skilled classifications as requiredParticipate in additional training as related to their workOperate material handling equipment, cranes, hoists and man-lifts in the performance of the dutiesOperates production and non-production equipment and tools as required in the performance of the dutiesPerforms all duties in a professional manner while maintaining the highest standard of productivity and qualityWork safely in the manufacturing production environmentFollow detailed verbal/written assembly instructions, processes, and proceduresProperly fill out basic forms, reports, and label products correctly that pertain to job dutiesCommunicate and work effectively with othersProvide hands-on and verbal job function training to coworkers and trainees as neededReport problems with quality, processes, equipment and materials to the Production Supervisor or member of managementRecord daily all work performed and correct distribution of work timeUse software systems as needed to complete job dutiesContribute to culture of high-quality productsMaintain a clean and organized work area to facilitate manufacturing functionsPerform other job-related duties as directed by supervisor per CBA and company policiesThe Supervisor will instruct each employee in the responsibilities as listed in the proceduresThe Supervisor will inform each employee where to access the procedure manualJob Expectations:Ability to work with your handsAbility to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)Ability to lift and/or move 25 pounds, and up to 50 poundsAbility to work in extreme temperatures (hot/cold)Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, reach at arm's length, stoop, kneel, and crouchAbility to use power tools, air tools, and other vibratory toolsAbility to work around hot heavy machineryAbility to work from a standing position for extended periods of timeAbility to move materials with a powered vehicle (forklift)Ability to work at heightsAbility to work in confined spacesRepetitive standing, bending, turning, and twisting for extended periods of timeSpecific vision requirements include close vision and color visionMust be able to pass a basic aptitude test, physical, with drug/alcohol test and background screenCandidates must be available to work all shifts including possible mandatory overtime on weekendsPrevious experience in a foundry settingRequired and/or Recommended Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):Hard HatSafety GlassesHearing ProtectionFace MaskProtective ClothingSteel Toe/Met Guard ShoesRequired Education/Experience:Must have high school diploma/GED or equivalent work experienceMust have four years of verifiable trade experience in industrial maintenanceWork is scheduled in 8 to 10 hour shifts on Monday through Friday with the possibility of mandatory overtime throughout the week and on the weekend. Overtime is paid based on the current and applicable collective bargaining agreement.
