Role Description
The Mechanical Lead Planner is a full‑time, on‑site role based in the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area. This role is responsible for developing detailed mechanical work plans for turnarounds, construction, and maintenance projects, including defining scope, estimating labor and materials, sequencing activities, and identifying required tools and equipment. The Mechanical Lead Planner collaborates closely with project managers, field supervisors, engineers, and clients to ensure plans are accurate, safe, and aligned with project objectives and schedules. Day‑to‑day activities include reviewing drawings and technical documents, conducting job walk‑downs, building and maintaining project schedules, and updating plans based on field feedback. The individual in this role will help optimize resource utilization, track progress, support cost control efforts, and contribute to continuous improvement of planning processes while maintaining strict adherence to SWAT’s safety standards and procedures.
Qualifications
- Strong mechanical planning expertise for industrial projects, including experience with turnarounds, outages, and construction in refining, petrochemical, or related heavy industrial environments.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting P&IDs, isometrics, mechanical drawings, and equipment specifications to develop accurate work packages and plans.
- Experience with scheduling and planning tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar software) to build, update, and monitor project schedules.
- Solid understanding of cost estimating for mechanical work (labor, materials, equipment) and the ability to support budgeting and cost control activities.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, familiarity with industrial safety standards, and ability to incorporate safety requirements into all work plans.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to coordinate with cross‑functional teams and interface professionally with clients and site personnel.
- Strong organizational and problem‑solving abilities, including attention to detail, time‑management skills, and the capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
