Overview

Relocation Authorized: National - Accompanied. Telework Type: Full-Time Office/Project. Work Location: Lake Charles, LA.

Louisiana LNG is located approximately 11 miles southwest of Lake Charles, Louisiana. The project includes a mid-scale, mixed-refrigerant LNG production and export facility on the west side of the Calcasieu River, with five identical process plants and associated utilities, tanks, and berths.

Job Summary

In this role, you will lead a team and supervise superintendents and/or craft professionals on a project. You will direct craft professional activities and work schedules, coordinate subcontract work activities, and support team development. You will ensure craft professionals have the tools required to be productive, comply with project policies and procedures, and perform within specifications, schedules and budgets.

Major Responsibilities

PFS Tier I – most applicable to Area Superintendents and PFSs on projects (<$250m) of moderate complexity and few stakeholders involved.

  • Leadership / Supervision (Supervision of discipline and lead superintendents with 100+ craft)
  • Proactively engages with their team’s development through CPM, competency development/assessment and feedback
  • Supervises and directs craft activities, subordinate superintendents, and others, as assigned.

Planning / Productivity

  • Determines workforce requirements.
  • Prepares reports and forecasts, including summary of construction progress, craft personnel forecasts, and expenditures forecast.

Tools, Materials & Equipment

  • Monitors tool and equipment usage on the site.
  • Prepares Field Material Requisitions for tools and consumables and ensures that the crafts have the tools they require to be productive.

Safety & Quality

  • Ensures assigned construction operations and subcontractors’ performance are in compliance with specifications. Responsible for the implementation of corporate/project policies, procedures, and instructions within assigned operations.
  • Monitors work activities and ensures the quality of work performed.

Technical

  • Works with Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals, in interpreting Engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents.
  • Coordinates engineering solutions with Subcontractors, Foremen and Craft Professionals.

Education And Experience Requirements

  • Requires bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 13-15 years of relevant experience or 17-19 years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge And Skills

  • Knowledge and experience of construction methods of full containment LNG tank construction including carbon steel, aluminum, and 9% Ni plate erection and welding, roof construction, air raise and hydrotesting.
  • Knowledge of concrete construction for outside containment and management of interfaces between concrete and steel teams.
  • Field construction environment experience with specifications, vendor procedures, instructions & codes (API-650, API-620, API-625, ASME Section VIII, AWWA, FERC).
  • Knowledge of welding processes such as SMAW, FCAW, SAW and use of Automatic Girth Welders, Down Flat Tractors, and automated isolation machines.
  • Experience with large crawler cranes, tower cranes, SPMTs and heavy lift programs. Technical knowledge of tank building equipment and tools.
  • Knowledge of requirements for cryogenic insulation including foam block, deck blanket, and perlite. Knowledge of Lock Out Tag Out.

Preferred

  • Experience on LNG Tanks with concrete outer tank vapor and spill containment.
  • Experience on an LNG construction site, especially along the U.S. Gulf Coast.
  • Heavy industrial direct hire construction experience commensurate with the type of work to be undertaken.
  • Experience managing technical services subcontracts.
  • Experience in oil, gas, refinery, petrochemical, minerals processing or power generating station construction.
  • Computer literacy in word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications.
  • Ability to work with multi-national employees and across different languages.
  • Ability to train less experienced team members and provide mentorship. Excellent communication and problem-solving ability.

Additional Information

Field inspections are required, including walking on a construction site, climbing ladders and scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, uneven surfaces, and confined spaces. Some lifting may be required. Must be able to enter/egress the project site and wear PPE as required (e.g., harness, life vest, lift buckets).
