This is a hands-on technical leadership role that combines engineering expertise with strong people leadership, execution, and communication skills.

You will help drive mechanical architecture decisions, guide system-level integration, and oversee the development and delivery of complex, mission-critical defense products across structural, thermal, motion-control, and manufacturing disciplines.

What You'll Do

  • Lead, mentor, and manage the Mechanical Engineering team while fostering a high-performance, engineering-first culture centered on accountability, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide technical leadership and review complex electromechanical design decisions across structural, thermal, motion-control, and manufacturing domains.
  • Oversee mechanical testing, validation, and qualification activities to ensure designs meet performance, reliability, and operational requirements.
  • Own engineering execution from concept through deployment, establishing priorities, timelines, and milestones in partnership with company leadership.
  • Ensure projects remain on schedule and within scope while effectively balancing technical risk, quality, and development speed.
  • Partner closely with product, operations, and leadership to align mechanical engineering efforts with broader company objectives.
  • Establish and maintain engineering processes, design reviews, and documentation standards that support rapid development and long-term product maintainability.
  • Provide technical guidance and remove engineering obstacles to keep complex programs moving forward.

What You'll Need

  • 7+ years of professional engineering experience, including 2+ years in an engineering leadership or management role.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Strong experience designing electromechanical systems, robotics, autonomous systems, or complex defense hardware.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage performance, and develop engineers across varying levels of experience.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to balance development speed, product quality, and technical risk.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

You’ll Stand Out

  • Previous experience working with defense systems, robotics, autonomous platforms, or safety-critical products.
  • Deep technical expertise in precision mechanisms, motion systems, thermal management, ruggedized hardware, or high-performance electromechanical products.
  • Experience building, developing, or scaling engineering teams within a fast-paced startup environment.
