Vista Auction is an online auction for returned and overstock goods. Items go up for auction in our mobile app, people bid, and winners pick up at our warehouses near Charlotte, North Carolina.
We serve more than 55,000 customers a month, sell over 25,000 items a day, and take more than 7 million bids a month. And we're just getting started!
We run our own warehouses and build our technology in-house, giving our development team a direct connection to the customers and employees using what they build. We’re fast-paced and hands-on: an idea can ship and be measured in days.
Overview
As our Mechanical Engineering Intern, you’ll report to the Head of Engineering and provide hands-on support in process improvement, automation development, and operational efficiency projects within a high-volume liquidation center environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist in designing and improving processing workflows and workstations
- Support development of automation solutions and mechanical systems
- Help identify bottlenecks and propose efficiency improvements
- Create CAD models, layouts, and basic prototypes
- Work with engineering and software teams on system improvements
- Support project execution, tracking, and documentation
- Assist with data collection and basic analysis of operations
Requirements
- Pursuing BS in Mechanical Engineering (Junior/Senior preferred)
- Strong interest in automation, process improvement, and operations
- Basic CAD skills (SolidWorks, Creo, or similar)
- Hands-on mindset (tools, building, problem-solving)
- Organized, proactive, and able to manage small projects
- Interest in project management and ownership
- Strong communication and willingness to learn
Preferred but Not Required
- Experience with manufacturing, Lean, or Six Sigma concepts
- Exposure to automation, conveyors, sensors, or controls
- Basic understanding of data analysis (Excel)

Schedule: Full-time (40 hrs/week)
Pay: $18–25/hour (based on experience)
