We are partnering with a global leader in advanced manufacturing technology that designs and builds highly engineered gear manufacturing machinery, precision production systems, automation, and related manufacturing solutions used by customers across a variety of industrial markets.
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join their Rochester-area engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys hands-on machine design, automation, problem-solving, and seeing equipment move from concept through manufacturing and assembly.
What You’ll Do
- Design and develop industrial machinery, mechanical systems, and automation equipment
- Create 3D models and detailed mechanical designs using parametric CAD software – Creo preferred
- Design precision components and assemblies with proper fits, tolerances, and GD&T
- Select and integrate mechanical and motion components, including linear rails, trucks, and other purchased components
- Create and maintain Bills of Material (BOMs) for new and existing equipment
- Develop machine designs based on customer specifications and application requirements
- Create designs for machined, fabricated, and sheet-metal components
- Work closely with Electrical Controls, Fluid Power, Software, Applications, and Manufacturing Engineering
- Support equipment during assembly, runoff, troubleshooting, and field-service activities
- Participate in design reviews, FMEA, risk-management, and continuous-improvement initiatives
- Assist with engineering estimates for project costs, materials, and schedules
- Manage multiple engineering projects while meeting cost and schedule requirements
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline
- Approximately 2–5+ years of relevant mechanical engineering experience
- Strong hands-on experience with mechanical or machine design
- Proficiency with 3D CAD software; Creo experience is highly preferred
- Strong understanding of GD&T, tolerancing, mechanical drawings, and design for manufacturability
- Experience designing equipment involving precision mechanical components and motion systems
- Experience creating and maintaining BOMs
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical design issues and work directly with manufacturing and assembly teams
- Experience with custom machinery, industrial automation, machine tools, robotics, or other engineered equipment is highly desirable
- Strong communication, organization, and project-management skills
Why This Opportunity?
This role offers the opportunity to work on complex, highly engineered manufacturing equipment rather than designing individual components in isolation. You’ll collaborate with multiple engineering disciplines and have visibility into the entire equipment lifecycle—from initial concept and customer requirements through detailed design, manufacturing, assembly, runoff, and final implementation.
If you are a Mechanical Engineer who enjoys building machines, solving mechanical problems, and working in an advanced manufacturing environment, we would like to hear from you.
