Mechanical Engineer
Location: Redmond, WA
Duration: 12+ months
Duties:
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to design, manufacture, and assemble prototypes of soft wearable electronic devices
- Apply sound engineering and design principles for manufacturing of injection molded components, soft electronic components, and novel sensor integrations in wearable electronics
- Communicate with vendors on DFM and Manufacturing of designs for prototype builds
- Collaborate with researchers and engineers to rapidly prototype hardware solutions, iterate, and run experiments
Skills:
Must Haves:
- BS in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent industry experience
- 4+ years of experience in designing hardware prototypes, preferably in wearable consumer electronics, or a similar field
- Knowledge of the design process from concept to manufacturing
- Average or higher experience with CAD modeling (Siemens NX preferred)
- Physical prototyping experience
- Demonstrated experience with Design for injection molding, liquid silicone rubber, 3D printing
Nice to Haves:
- Knowledge of sensors
- Experience developing wearable consumer electronics
- Experience designing with softgoods or textiles
- Hands-on prototyping with molding and casting of elastomers or industrial processes such as Liquid Injection Molding
- Experience collaborating and communicating effectively on multi-disciplinary teams
- Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
