Duties
The duties described are for the full-performance level. At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity. The duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Develop methods and technologies to reduce the risk associated with workplace exposure and hazards.
- Review application of numerical methods and computational fluid dynamic modeling to design and evaluate the effect of engineering controls on worker exposure to airborne contaminants.
- Review design of engineering control studies to reduce or prevent worker exposure to harmful contaminants.
- Serve as subject matter expert on containment by understanding laboratories engineering controls.
- Perform on-site inspections to ensure compliance, and that safety standards are met and disseminates safety standards to all staff.
- Maintain awareness on the latest developments in mechanical engineering.
- Prepare and distribute comprehensive reports which include discussion of containment objectives; assessment of the adequacy and quality of data used in the analyses.
- Present results to the scientific community at professional meetings and conferences.
- Provide subject matter expertise related to program management and direction, history, or regulations as requested by the DASAT Director or delegate.
