Mechanical EngineerCorning Incorporated is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Corning, NY. This is an onsite position working Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week, with flexibility as needed. Travel is expected to average around 50% depending on project phase and may include periods of higher or lower travel, extended domestic site support, and occasional international travel. You will join a team with a strong track record of mentoring entry-level engineers, providing structured training, and giving new talent meaningful project responsibility early in their careers.Key ResponsibilitiesContribute to engineering project teams responsible for delivering robust, cost-effective mechanical systems for Corning manufacturing plants and processesSupport the design, debug, installation, and startup of mechanical and thermal-related systemsWork with project team members to solve mechanical engineering and equipment-related problems and support project executionAssist with prototype, proof-of-concept, and other testing used to validate design approaches and system performancePartner with external engineering firms, equipment vendors, system integrators, and suppliers to deliver assigned project scope on time and within expectationsSupport the development of fabrication and installation drawings and help ensure final drawing packages meet Corning standards and reflect as-built conditionsParticipate in system integration, field support, startup activities, and training of plant personnel during key project phasesMinimum Qualifications and SkillsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering; Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering may also be considered0–2 years of relevant engineering experience, including professional experience, internship experience, or co-op experience in a manufacturing, industrial, mechanical systems, process equipment, or project engineering environmentAcademic, internship, co-op, or professional experience involving mechanical design, thermal systems, heat transfer, fluid systems, or related process equipmentStrong problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skillsAbility to work effectively in a team-based, matrixed project environmentPreferred Qualifications and SkillsExperience with 2D/3D CAD or modeling tools, including SolidWorksExperience supporting equipment installation, commissioning, startup, or field-based project workExposure to prototype development, proof-of-concept testing, or design validationInterest in hands-on engineering work within a manufacturing environmentThis position does not support immigration sponsorship.
The range for this position is $69,279.00 - $95,259.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.A job that shapes a life.
