Mechanical Engineer Job Description
The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and improving mechanical systems, components, and manufacturing processes. This role works closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, quality, manufacturing, and suppliers to ensure products meet performance, reliability, quality, safety, and cost objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and systems using CAD software.
- Create and maintain engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Conduct engineering analyses, calculations, and simulations to validate designs.
- Support prototype development, testing, and product validation activities.
- Identify and implement design improvements to enhance product performance, manufacturability, quality, and cost efficiency.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to troubleshoot production issues and develop corrective actions.
- Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work with suppliers and vendors on component selection, qualification, and technical problem-solving.
- Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards, codes, regulations, and company procedures.
- Develop and execute testing plans and evaluate test results.
- Assist with project planning, scheduling, and execution to meet project milestones and business objectives.
- Support product launches, engineering change requests, and ongoing product maintenance.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and engineering recommendations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
- 2+ years of engineering experience preferred (experience requirements may vary based on level).
- Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD, CATIA, or similar design tools.
- Knowledge of mechanical design principles, manufacturing processes, and material properties.
- Experience with engineering analysis, testing, and problem-solving methodologies.
- Understanding of GD&T, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.
Job Type & Location:
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New Berlin, WI.
Pay and Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
