As part of our engineering team, you'll see your designs become reality while collaborating directly with the people who build and install them.Location - (Nashville, TN)Applicants should reside in or near the Nashville metropolitan area to support occasional customer visits, project meetings, and travel as needed.Job PurposeWEMCO is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our growing Engineering team based in the Nashville, TN area.

This position will support engineering projects across multiple industries by designing, developing, and testing all aspects of mechanical components, equipment, and machinery. You will apply your knowledge of engineering principles to design products such as cranes, material handling equipment, controls, machines, etc.Working closely with electrical, structural, and controls engineers, you will be responsible for developing practical, manufacturable solutions while collaborating with our manufacturing facilities and field service personnel throughout project execution.Occasional travel to customer sites and WEMCO facilities will be required for project coordination, commissioning support, and engineering reviews.Job ResponsibilitiesAssess project requirementsMeasure the performance of mechanical components, devices, and enginesUse computer-aided design/modeling softwareUndertake relevant researchProduce and implement designs and test proceduresPresent designs to managers and clientsAnalyze and interpret dataDesign and evaluate mechanical and electromechanical systems by applying principles of mechanics, electrical systems, hydraulics, and materialsDevelop mechanical and electromechanical products by studying customer requirements, researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials, and soliciting observations from operatorsDevelop manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for fabricating, building, assembling, and installing componentsAssure system and product quality by designing testing methods, testing finished product and system capabilities, confirming fabrication, assembly, and installation processesPrepare product reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trendsProvide engineering information by answering questions and requestsMaintain product and company reputation by complying with government regulationsCreate and review O&M manuals for all designed equipmentProvide tracking and reporting to help plan, develop, and mentor project teams on the implementation of recovery plans as necessaryDevelop and maintain constructive and cooperative interpersonal working relationships with othersCreate drawings for manufacturability using standard drafting practicesDiagnose problems, order appropriate parts, and design solutions to remedy project complicationsComplete small quotes and customer proposals that are assigned to you by upper managementMust maintain a clean driving record since you may be asked to drive a company vehicle at timesBe willing to travel for short periods of time to manage project assignmentsBe willing to study and learn relevant industry standard requirements such as ISO9001, AS9100, NCCCO, OSHA, ANSI, ASME, CMAA, AWS, IBC, ASCE, ASME, as well as any other related specifications needed to perform industry-accepted designs and equipmentJob Requirements:At least 5 years of experience as a mechanical engineer/designerCrane & equipment design experience preferredBachelor's Degree in Mechanical EngineeringExperience using Autodesk Inventor is preferredExperience with Microsoft Office products: Excel, Word, OutlookProficient use of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applicationsUnderstanding of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and modelsAbility to effectively communicate with co-workers, customers, and suppliersMust demonstrate a strong work ethic and the ability to complete tasks independently with minimal supervisionStrong problem-solving and decision-making skillsStrong attention to detailMust have good time management and prioritization skills with the ability to meet deadlinesMust be able to pass a background checkBenefitsCompetitive Salary401(k) Retirement PlanMedical InsuranceDental InsuranceVision InsurancePaid Time OffPaid HolidaysEmployee Referral ProgramRemote Work FlexibilitySupplemental Insurance through Colonial LifeOpportunities for Professional Development and Continuing EducationOccasional Travel to Customer Sites and WEMCO FacilitiesJoin Our TeamIf you're looking for an opportunity where your engineering work directly impacts the products being built—and where you'll collaborate with a talented team dedicated to innovation, quality, and customer success—we encourage you to apply.At WEMCO, your designs don't sit on a shelf.
