Job Responsibilities
As a Mechanical Engineer IV/Senior Engineer you will be responsible for representing the Firm in all interactions with clients, contractors, architects, and other project team members. You will be responsible for designing large projects, preparing reports and specifications, and providing a high level of technical leadership.
- Conduct field inspections to determine existing conditions and coordinate new work; assist Senior Engineer in preparation of due diligence, feasibility, gap analysis and other technical reports and drawings.
- Coordinate with other disciplines and work in close contact with the entire design team.
- Create basic designs under the direction of the senior engineer and/or senior designer; perform equipment selections, load/energy and pressure drop calculations for a variety of projects and project sizes.
- Follow Master’s drawing organization format and company standards.
- Assist senior engineer and/or senior designer in determining project scheduling requirements, manpower requirements, and project budgets.
- Process RFIs, Change Orders, Bulletins, and Addenda.
- Establish system application, design, and operational parameters/sequences under the direction of the senior engineer and/or senior designer.
- Develop specifications, system narratives and system layouts for a variety of projects and project sizes.
- Participate in, ensure, and oversee QA/QC processes for your work and the work of others.
- Perform construction administration and field investigation tasks for assigned projects, including conducting field inspections and detailed inspection reports.
- Represent Syska Hennessy Group and work closely with internal design team as well as external clients and consultants.
- Participate in various trade organizations and prepare presentations.
- Manage CAD/BIM and other technical staff assigned to particular projects or tasks as directed by the senior engineer and/or senior designer.
- Assist with employee reviews as requested.
- Estimate construction costs and evaluate feasibility of construction using ROM (Rough Order of Magnitude).
- Write engineering proposals under the direction of a senior engineer or senior designer.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited university.
- Minimum of 7–8 years’ experience working in a consulting firm.
- LEED AP accreditation preferred.
- Strong ability to coordinate mechanical systems with architectural, structural, electrical, and telecom, including constructability and cost considerations.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit.
- EIT required; PE required for Senior Engineer.
