Headquartered in Chicago, we develop, own, and operate large scale projects that power communities and support the energy future.Position Overview The Mechanical Engineer III, Operations Engineering provides technical support to a large operating fleet of wind energy projects with emphasis on addressing the reliability and performance challenges associated with wind turbine drivetrain components, conducting root cause analyses, and advancing subject matter expertise and processes in the company.ResponsibilitiesAssist with the monitoring of gears, bearings, generators, and oil and debris sensors within wind turbine drivetrain systemsAssess damage to major components, categorize severity, and provide repair or troubleshooting dispositionsBuild out and provide customer reports of alerts and recommendations, tracking key metrics and successesTrack major component repairs, including the collection of repair reports and the updating of a failure logSchedule and review End of Warranty inspections for major drivetrain components and file necessary claims with wind turbine OEMsHelp build and develop the capabilities of in-house repair teamsLead pilot projects to evaluate new equipment, tools, or processesSource hard-to-find parts for aging wind turbinesVisit sites to conduct special inspections, failure investigations, or provide trainingSome travel (< 25%) and moderate field work may be requiredRequired SkillsBachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or relevant physical scienceFour to six years of relevant industry experienceStrong interest and understanding of mechanical and electrical systemsStrong time-management and/or project-management skillsDesire to work in a dynamic environment alongside people with multiple interests and backgroundsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsProficient in the use of Microsoft Office products and able to quickly acclimate to new softwareDemonstrated interest in renewable energy.Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.Preferred SkillsMaster's degree in a technical discipline is preferredExperience with wind turbines, equipment reliability, bearings, condition-monitoring software or vibration analysis, or CMMS software is a plusExperience with data access, storage and serversExperience working with large data sets and performing statistical analysis is a plusBase Pay$100,000.00 - $120,000.00 USD Annual Bonus: 20% - 30%The base pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for the position.
