HDR is an employee-owned company that values diversity and inclusion. The Building Engineering Services Group (BES) in New Jersey seeks a Mechanical Engineer to support design, coordination, and construction administration of mechanical and plumbing systems.
Primary Duties
- Support project phases from feasibility to close-out.
- Coordinate workload to meet deadlines.
- Participate in site work sessions with stakeholders.
- Write and edit mechanical specifications.
- Select equipment using fan and pump curves.
- Perform psychrometric calculations for HVAC.
- Develop sections, elevations, and flow diagrams for ductwork and piping.
- Coordinate HVAC and plumbing controls with controls engineers.
- Review mechanical documents for conflicts with all disciplines.
- Perform field verification of existing conditions.
- Provide construction administration support by reviewing submittals and answering RFIs.
- Visit project sites to monitor construction and prepare field observation reports.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing large-scale healthcare, laboratory, or data center facilities.
- Proficiency in Revit and Microsoft Office.
- Experience with load calculation, energy modeling, and equipment selection software.
- Local residency preferred.
- Previous experience with an A/E/C firm.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Prior experience in mechanical system design for commercial or institutional buildings.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Experience in commercial or institutional facilities.
- Proficiency with MS Office, Trane TRACE or similar, and manufacturer selection software.
- Previous experience with an engineering consulting firm.

Salary range in Pennington, NJ: $92,575–$132,250.
