Mechanical Engineer
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design, analyze, and support mechanical systems across oil & gas and chemical processing projects. The role focuses on developing safe, code-compliant pressure equipment and pneumatic systems, performing engineering calculations and drawings, and working with cross-functional teams to deliver projects on schedule and within budget. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with ASME standards, NFPA requirements, and familiarity with chemical process environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop mechanical designs for rotating and static equipment, piping supports, pressure vessels, and pneumatic systems in oil & gas and chemical processing applications.
- Perform engineering calculations (pressure, stress, fatigue, thermal, and fluid flow) and prepare technical reports to support design decisions.
- Create, review, and revise detailed 2D/3D CAD drawings, specifications, and bill of materials.
- Ensure designs comply with ASME codes, NFPA standards, and other applicable regulations and industry best practices.
- Collaborate with process, civil, electrical, and instrumentation teams to integrate mechanical solutions across project phases.
- Support procurement and fabrication by preparing technical bid packages, evaluating vendor submittals, and performing shop drawing reviews.
- Lead or participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, and safety assessments to identify and mitigate risks.
- Provide field support during installation, commissioning, and start-up; perform troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of mechanical issues.
- Develop and maintain project documentation including calculations, datasheets, test plans, and quality records.
- Mentor junior engineers and support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability and maintainability of mechanical systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline; Masters degree preferred.
- 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience, preferably in oil & gas, chemical processing, or related heavy industries.
- Demonstrated knowledge and practical application of ASME codes (e.g., ASME Section VIII) and NFPA standards relevant to process facilities.
- Experience with pressure vessel, piping, and pneumatic system design and analysis.
- Familiarity with chemical process considerations such as materials compatibility, corrosion, and containment.
- Proficiency with CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, PDMS/Plant 3D) and engineering analysis software (FEA, pressure/flow calculators).
- Strong problem-solving, technical writing, and communication skills; ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or working toward licensure is preferred.
- Comfortable supporting field activities, vendor coordination, and manufacturing oversight as required.
