Job TitleDevelop innovative, cost-effective mechanical components/packages for RF coil products. This position requires skills using SolidWorks. Familiarity with rapid prototyping processes and injection molding process is a plus.
The candidate shall also work efficiently with a cross-functional team including electrical engineers, quality assurance, regulatory, manufacturing, sourcing, documentation control, etc.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Design, develop and rapid prototype "state of the art" mechanical components/packages/subsystems for RF coil development for MR systemsWorking knowledge of rapid prototyping processes, machining and injection molding processesSupport design for reliability, manufacturability, serviceability and costEvaluate and coordinate with external vendor to support and provide prototype, pre-production and ECO mechanical packagePrepare and review mechanical documents for product development and program releaseWork with RF coil development cross-functional teams including: management, program managers, electrical engineers, quality assurance, regulatory, manufacturing engineers, operations, sourcing, and document controlProvide technical support to engineering team as neededBe a role model and lead by exampleQualifications: Education and ExperienceBachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology or related field is requiredOne year of experience working in a professional environment or a minimum of two substantive professional internships, co-op or university lab experienceElectromechanical design experience is a plusPrefer experience in Medical Equipment Industry and RF coil developmentSkills and AbilitiesRequiredKnowledge of rapid prototyping processes as well as injection molding processesUnderstanding of RF coil hardware and electro-mechanical designProficient with SolidWorks and AutoCADBasic understanding of FMEADemonstrated ability for design plastic and metal componentsAbility to design, build and troubleshoot her/his own workProficient in MS Office software, Outlook and the InternetClear written and interpersonal communication skillsQuick learner with strong multi-tasking skillsTeam playerPreferredFEA analysis expert knowledge using CosmosWorks or similar softwareIndustrial experience is plusOne or two prior years' experience in medical device design is preferredUnderstanding development process for medical devices is a plusUnderstanding IEC testing for medical devices is a plusWorking knowledge and support of Quality Management System deliverables in a medical device environment
