Mechanical Design EngineerThe Mechanical Design Engineer supports the design and development of mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment, components, circuits, and cables for both new and existing products in a manufacturing and semiconductor environment. This role involves creating detailed design documentation, building and testing prototypes, selecting components, and driving qualification testing to ensure products meet performance, safety, and compliance standards.ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment, components, circuits, and cables for new and existing products.Create comprehensive design documentation, including system diagrams, schematic diagrams, and P&ID, to support product development and manufacturing.Build prototypes and conduct testing to validate designs and ensure products meet functional and reliability requirements.Select new mechanical and electronic components that meet design specifications, industry standards, and cost targets.Drive the development of qualification test procedures and perform qualification testing for new and existing product lines.Interface closely with Design Engineering to coordinate testing activities for newly released products and design changes.Estimate manufacturing costs, determine time standards, and recommend tooling and process requirements for new or existing product lines.Prepare clear and concise reports summarizing test results, analysis, and conclusions for leadership and cross-functional teams.Develop, implement, and manage a calibration and preventive maintenance program for testing equipment, including schedules and database records.Apply knowledge of semiconductor equipment industry practices related to gas and liquid delivery systems, including pressure, vacuum, and fluid flow concepts, in product design and testing.Utilize CAD software such as Creo, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks to create and update detailed models and drawings.Use LabView and related tools to support test automation, data acquisition, and analysis for qualification and verification activities.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure designs comply with industrial safety standards, compliance requirements, and control system best practices.Manage multiple projects and tasks effectively, ensuring timely completion of design, documentation, testing, and reporting activities.Communicate design concepts, test results, and recommendations clearly through verbal presentations and written reports.Essential SkillsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.Minimum of 2 years of related experience in a manufacturing and semiconductor environment.Hands-on experience with LabView for test automation, data acquisition, or measurement systems.Working knowledge of CAD software, including Creo, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks, for mechanical design and documentation.Strong understanding of semiconductor equipment industry practices related to gas and liquid delivery systems, including pressure, vacuum, and fluid flow.Good knowledge of electrical theories, design principles and practices, and design evaluation techniques.Ability to create detailed documentation, system diagrams, schematic diagrams, and P&ID.Excellent project and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.Proficiency with the Windows operating system and Microsoft Office programs.Additional Skills & QualificationsFamiliarity with control systems utilized in industrial production and process automation.Knowledge of industrial standards for safety and compliance.Understanding of serial communication protocols used in industrial and automation systems.Experience working with vacuum systems and fluid flow in a semiconductor or similar environment.Experience estimating manufacturing costs and determining time standards for production processes.Ability to recommend tooling and process requirements for new or existing product lines.Experience preparing technical reports that summarize test results, analysis, and recommendations.Experience developing and managing calibration and preventive maintenance programs for testing equipment.Work EnvironmentThis is an onsite role based in Maine within a manufacturing and semiconductor-focused environment. The position involves working in a production and test setting with mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment, including gas and liquid delivery systems, vacuum systems, and fluid flow applications. You will regularly use CAD tools such as Creo, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks, as well as LabView, Windows-based computers, and Microsoft Office programs. The work requires hands-on interaction with prototypes and test equipment, adherence to industrial safety and compliance standards, and close collaboration with engineering and production teams in a professional, technology-driven environment.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Hayward, CA.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
