Mechanical Design Engineer 2This engineering position is responsible for developing Mechanical Ground Support Equipment designs for our Launch complexes at Cape Canaveral and Vandenberg Space Force Bases.
Key responsibilities include:Create models and produce/release drawings used for fabrication.Designs shall be optimized for manufacturing, producibility, usability, and safety.Work with ULA subcontract administration and manufacturers through fabrication, test and acceptance.Support first use of hardware to ensure proper installation and processing.Must be available for periodic travel to the other ULA sites.Required Education: BachelorRequired Years of Experience: Minimum of 2 years of related work experienceBasic Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field from an accredited college or universityProficient with CAD software, preferably NXUnderstanding of drawing standards and GD&TExperienced contributor that can work in a fast-paced environmentWork experience on projects in which integration between different engineering disciplines occurred (e.g. structural, electrical, test, analysis)Ability to work under general supervision to determine and develop solutions to a variety of engineering problemsStrong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.Must be available for periodic travel to the other ULA sites or vendors.Must possess a valid driver's license to drive between work locations on a military base where public transportation is not availablePreferred Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited college or universityFamiliarity with mechanical ground systems and strength analysisExperience with welded steel and aluminum structuresFamiliarity with machine shop practicesTeamcenter, MSOffice, and MS Project experienceProficiency with drawing standards and GD&TBecause we understand launch success comes through the collective efforts of a team, we seek the best to join us.
